PRACTICAL WORKSHOP, SATURDAY NOVEMBER 19 2016, PART OF BEST STAY 2016

The theme of this workshop is how to extend the tourism season by offering a programme of activities for guests beyond accommodation facilities. The programme maximises the advantages of the destination, creating a personalised and orignal itinerary for the guest.  

Creating such a programme requires thinking outside of the box to offer the guest the most positive, memorable and personalised experience of the destination. The purpose of creating this programme is to attract more guests to visit the destination outside of high season, increase the number of nights they stay and to come back again and again.

Workshop attendees will  benefit from being presented with  practical ideas and examples which can be implemented immediately, creating new programmes of activities for a new types of guests. This in turn will improve the current offering for  both new and existing customers.

The goal of this workshop is for Hotel Directors, Apartment Owners and Tourism Boards to:

  • create new programmes to extend the tourism season

  • become more competitive internationally

  • come together as an industry to promote tourism all year round.

 

Workshop programme:

08:30 Departure from Opatija (outside hotel Royal, stop-over in Rijeka at 09:00h to pick up passengers)

10:00 Arrival in Kuća krčkog pršuta in Krk, welcome drink and morning menu (prosciutto, cheese, homemade bread, drink of choice)

12:00 Hands -on: Creating your own programme
  • Group excercise

  • Attendees will think of, and create, their own programme for guests for 365 days a year: Think of how you will create a programme for your town or region for an average day in March, May, October or December

  • Prepare a way to present this to your guest (Before, during and after arrival)

  • Think of 3 different types of guests and tailor the programme to each type

  • How to present this offer to the guest even before the reservation and during the whole year?

14:00 Presentations

Short presentations of attendees' programmes and advice for improvements

15:30 The panel of final thoughts

Advice for promoting your programme online, through tourism boards, agencies and other options for cooperation with others to contribute to tourism 365 days a year.

15:45 Afternoon break and lunch

17:00 End of programme and departure to Opatija / Rijeka

What's included:

Bus transport from Opatija to Krk island, and back, all morning and afternoon breaks with food and drinks, lunch with drinks, programme with materials.
